On July 15th the Lexington, Kentucky Social Security Field Office kicked-off their food drive as part of SSA's "warm up to giving" food drive initiative. Food that the Lexington Field Office collects is donated to God's Pantry, a local food bank. God's Pantry will use the donated food to stock the shelves at one their six food pantries in Fayette County. The Lexington Field Office employees have been very generous, donating over 300 pounds of food through the end of July.
An incentive for employees to donate is a candy bowl in front of the food donation boxes. Those who donate food are to help themselves to a piece of candy when they make a food donation. Whenever the candy bowl goes empty, it is mysteriously filled up again with candy by "guilty" candy eaters.
The Lexington Field Office is also having a cook-out in which participants are asked to bring a non-perishable food item. Lexington Field Office's food drive continues through August 28th.
